Willow Smith gained early fame thanks to her famous parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The star introduced “Whip My Hair” back in 2010, and she has talked about how the spread of the blow has adversely affected her. Willow talked a lot about how she wanted to shake her head after the song became famous too.
Looking back, Jada seemed to be standing against Willow shaking her head. Here’s what Jada said about asking her daughter to shake her head “gradually” instead of letting her go for it completely.
Willow Smith had a difficult time with the release of ‘Whip My Hair’
Although “Whip My Hair” was a huge success with fans, Willow was not ready for that level of fame. Will and Jada pressured her to keep going, because they knew she could be a star. And Willow has since talked about that experience Red Table Conversation.
“I definitely had to forgive you and my dad for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing,” Willow told Jada Red Table Conversation. “It was pretty much daddy because it was so hard at certain times. It was a year or two, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was listened to or that no one cared as I felt. ”
Will also spoke about the “Whip My Hair” days. “It was done with‘ Whip My Hair, ’” Will said on Facebook Live. “She was done with performance, and as a complaint, she gave a bald head. That was really the first time I realized that my family was not happy with the direction I was taking. ”
Jada Pinkett Smith didn’t want Willow to shake her whole head at once
Although Will openly admitted that he did not want his daughter to shake her head, it seems that Jada was also reluctant. While you visit it Oprah Winfrey Exhibition back in 2010, Jada realized that Willow wanted to cut all her hair off – and she wouldn’t let her daughter do it all at once.
“It was like, ‘Mama, I want to cut my hair!’ And I said, ‘We need to talk to his father,’ “Jada told Oprah Winfrey.
“They grabbed me with that,” Will said. “She was already in the chair and the barber was there. And then it was, ‘Daddy, can I cut my hair? I was like, oh! ‘”
“It’s just hair,” Winfrey added, “it grows back.”
Jada then said she found a compromise with Willow. “I said, listen, let’s go,” she said. “But what I thought was good was that her beauty didn’t depend on her hair. What she told me was, ‘I want to be free. I just want to be free, mommy. ‘So I was like,’ Okay, I can give you a piece of that freedom. ‘”
Willow’s still shakes his head to feel power
Whether Willow keeps her hair long or short, it is clear that she is not defined by her hairstyle. And she kept shaking her head to feel good after the “Whip My Hair” days.
Willow recently shook her head in preparation for an art exhibition she did with Tyler Cole. “Willow shook her head for a symbolic reason, she wants to leave the past,” a source explained HollywoodLife. “She has struggled with anxiety but feels empowered and ready to get her life back. Shaking her entire hair was a way to unleash everything and start anew. ”
Will and Jada seem to love how strong and resilient their daughter is too. While they weren’t willing to let her cut her head off in the past, they certainly wouldn’t make that mistake again. We’re thrilled that Willow can be a self-assured, inspirational self!
