‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’: Why Sarah Paulson Says Playing Linda Tripp Is a ‘Huge Stretch’

Sarah Paulson to star in Ryan Murphy ‘s upcoming drama, Impeachment: The Story of American Crime. The actress features Linda Tripp, a key figure in the Clinton impeachment scandal. She has produced intense characters before, but recently Paulson admits that Tripp feels like a big stretch.

Sarah Paulson will play another real-life character in ‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’

Paulson has been working with Murphy for years. She has been in eight seasons of The American Horror Story and will be part of the team for season 10. And in 2016, the actress won a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Murphy’s true crime drama, The People v. OJ Simpson: The Story of American Crime.

Murphy’s next thing The American Crime Story project, Impeachment, based on the 1998 impeachment of President Bill Clinton and the White House scandal that sparked his sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

Paulson will take over from Lewinsky’s colleague Linda Tripp. After secretly recording Lewinsky’s private phone conversations, Tripp handed over the tapes to independent adviser Kenneth Starr and found him immune from prosecution.

With this, listeners know that Paulson is a master of the craft. And no matter what her role is, it always looks and feels effortless.

But when you talk to Collider, the actor noted that Tripp is a completely different character. And she recognized what an exciting extension it is to play it.

“I think the scripts are very special,” Paulson said. “I really do, I do. And it’s a huge extension for me as an actor and that’s a real pleasure for me. ”

“And I found myself at 45 and almost 46-years-old getting a part that is, you know, in terms of the complexity,” she continued. “It’s complex, and it’s not like Marcia Clark’s situation where you have to ultimately face your feelings about how wrong we were. It’s not that you don’t feel a bit of that for Linda when you have some context for her life. ”

‘Impeachment: American Crime Story’ began filming in October

The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed production records around the world. Those who restart are required to take a number of safety measures to keep their legs and ankles safe.

When you talk to The Cover in September, Paulson noted that 20th Murphy and Disney Television have taken extra care as they begin production. Impeachment: The Story of American Crime and The American Horror Story season 10.

“The thought of it all has been amazing,” she said. “Disney and Ryan Murphy Television have been really, really high. So I feel as protected as I can feel, being without a mask, working on a set around a group of people. ”

Paulson showed that too Impeachment: The Story of American Crime Filming would begin in October. “That could change, of course,” she said. “Because everything lives so much and is constantly changing.”
