Priscilla Presley was only 14 when she met Elvis Presley. They waited until she was 22 to get married, but that left a full six years when she was still a teenager and Elvis in his 20s. Priscilla still finds herself correcting the record and explaining how much Elvis loved their particular situation.
Priscilla was a guest on the Seven Networks Sunday night podcast in 2017 to discuss her history with Elvis. She explained how far they had gone together to show the relationship to her parents.
Elvis Presley met Priscilla’s father early in the courtship
Priscilla grew up with her mother, Ann Wagner, and stepfather, Paul Beaulieu. While stationed in Germany, Priscilla met Elvis while in the Army there. It wasn’t long until Beaulieu asked to meet him.
“My parents were a terrible shipwreck,” Priscilla said. “My father was very strict and right like that. We are back in the days that are still late in the 50s, early 60s. But he met Elvis and he met his father. That was the rule. He had to meet them before I even went to see him. It was on the third date that he said, ‘No, you are not going. I will not allow that. ‘”
Elvis gave a good impression of the Beaulieus.
“There is a misunderstanding out there,” she said. “There are rumors that I have decided to go to Graceland. No, this was drawing a lot through Elvis, not me and he was an old-fashioned guy. It was indeed. He said, ‘No, you are young and once we are married and 21, it is up to you. “
