A man with special tastes like Presley could not leave his food up to himself. Presley was rich and powerful so he had a way of hiring a personal chef. According to a BBC Four documentary, Presley ‘s personal chef was named Mary Jenkins Langston.

Langston was one of Presley’s most trusted employees. She said he was a sweet man, and that Presley bought her a house. Langston also said Presley once asked if he could stay with her at home rather than at Graceland, his famous residence.

What did Elvis Presley’s personal chef say about his eating habits?

Langston had plenty of experience making Presley’s favorite peanut butter and banana sandwich. She said Presley would often ask her to make the sandwich so that it would be prepared exactly as she would like.

“If he wanted them in the morning when he woke up, I would have to fix it. If he wanted them at two in the morning, I would still have to fix them for him. When he tasted them, he would shout, and that ‘s what he wanted … he wanted them to be really rich. ”

Langston also said Presley said eating was the only thing he enjoyed. She said Presley was once on a strict diet. That’s when he came to Langston for help. He told her to “put hot dogs with kraut on them. ”She did as he asked, and Presley liked the hot dogs.

Presley was bigger than life, and his diet reflected that. Given the remoteness of his diet habits, he needed someone to help them. That’s where Langston came in. She was a chef for Presley, but much more. She was in equal parts a cook, a trustee, and a friend to the King.
