Elvis Presley Felt Pressure To Marry Priscilla: ‘I can train her any way I want’

The marriage of Elvis and Priscilla Presley lasted only six years, but it was one of the most famous marriages of its day. Priscilla was Elvis’ only marriage, and they both had one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.

The couple’s relationship wasn’t as smooth as it was on the surface. But Elvis fell in love with her when he was only in his early 20s, and was said to have felt the “pressure” of marrying a woman 10 years younger.

Elvis and Priscilla started dating when she was only 14

When Elvis and Priscilla met, she was almost a teenager. Elvis was based overseas in Germany while in the army, and Priscilla had moved to Germany because her father was in the army as well. The moment Elvis met her, however, he was attracted to her, despite their age difference. Before the couple’s second meeting, they had kissed.

Finally, Elvis assured Priscilla’s parents to let her give him a date. But when he returned to the United States, she stayed in Germany. Still, after nearly two years without speaking out, Elvis contacted Priscilla and asked her to move to the US with him, according to curriculum vitae. Again, Elvis was able to get Priscilla’s parents to let go of the move. But he proved it was the beginning of a complex relationship.

Elvis felt pressured to marry her – but it felt like he could train her to be a good wife

When Priscilla moved to the USA, she stayed with Elvis at Graceland. While some were worried about the couple’s age difference, Elvis liked it. He told a friend that Priscilla’s inexperience allowed him to “train as I want.”

However, Elvis was not sure he wanted to marry her. However, his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, pressured Elvis to walk down the aisle. Parker felt it was not a good sight that Elvis would have lived a little in his home, just without marrying her. Elvis agreed and went through the marriage, despite the couple’s relationship already showing cracks. Elvis would often cheat on his wife before and after they got married, and eventually Priscilla decided she wasn’t going to sit around and take him with her.

Priscilla suddenly told Elvis that she was in a relationship shortly before they separated

Elvis had been impatient with Priscilla since early in the relationship. He knew she was too young to have sex with him, so he sought that satisfaction elsewhere. However, the disloyalty continued, and Priscilla ended things for herself as well.

Elvis set her up to take karate lessons, and Priscilla had a relationship with her instructor. She was blunt about it with Elvis, telling him about the relationship. It is reported that he did not treat her well, forcing her on herself and later considering hiring a thug to kill her lover.

Needless to say, the couple’s marriage didn’t make it through all those low points. However, Priscilla wrote the memoir that she “wanted to die” when she found out that Elvis had died in 1977.
