Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, especially Dolly Parton fans. Parton has been married to her husband Carl Dean for 54 years. While she has been married since 1966, over the years fans have questioned whether her husband exists. In October 2020, Parton addressed the conspiracy theory that Dean does not exist and assured fans that the two are just private about their relationship.
Fans thought Dolly Parton’s husband wasn’t there
In her book Dolly Parton, Songmaker: My Life in Lyrics, Parton admitted that some people have told her over the years that they do not believe Dean to be real. In an interview with Entertainment tonight, Parton challenged the conspiracy theory and repeatedly put the rumors to bed.
“A lot of people have thought about that over the years, because he doesn’t want to be noticed at all,” she said. “It’s not just who he is. He’s like, a quiet, reserved man and he saw that if he ever went out there, he’d never get a moment of peace and he’s right about that. ”
Why she decided to write a book
Parton recently made headlines when it was revealed that she had helped fund the Moderna coronavirus vaccine (COVID-19). Parton’s book Dolly Parton, Songmaker: My Life in Lyrics released on November 17, and in her interview with ET, Parton revealed why she decided to write the book.
“I had to do something. They couldn’t get out at a concert. She had to make a living somehow, ”she said. “Even for my real fans, I think they get a lot of new stuff that they like when they thought they knew about me. They find a few small lumps they didn’t know. ”
