Comedy Star Adam DeVine’s Tragic Childhood Accident Made His Toe Fall Off in the Bathtub

Renowned for providing humorous relief and flexible acting roles, Adam DeVine is a household name. Many fans have watched the comedy star change and thrive as a multi-talented actor.

He has received numerous accolades from critics and fans for his friendly personality and rational approach to character. To many, comedy seems to come naturally to DeVine.

However, it seems that it was a tragic childhood accident that influenced his ideas for pursuing a comedy career. Although it was a horrible event, he used laughter to help get over the pain.

Adam DeVine has a successful comedy career

DeVine began his comedy journey by collaborating with friends in California. Their group, Mail Order Comedy, created YouTube sketch shows, which led to its first major role.

Workaholics pushing DeVine to stardom by not only starring but also co – creating and writing the Comedy Central sitcom. DeVine’s friends from the Mail Order Comedy group, Blake Anderson and Anders Holm, also co-created and helped write the popular show, Workaholics, which kept fans laughing from 2011 to 2017.

DeVine’s huge fan base led to its own Comedy Central series, Adam DeVine House Party, which ran from 2013 through 2016.

To succeed beyond comedy

Mar Workaholics opened the door for DeVine, built several well-known acting careers over the years. Such as his enduring character, Andy, in the TV show Modern family, and appearing in famous films, including Pitch Perfect, Pitch Perfect 2, Mike and Dave need wedding dates, and Magic Camp.

Recently, he was inside Iexi and the HBO series The right stones. DeVine’s shark week special program has also been very popular. Beyond his acting career, DeVine and his Workaholics co-stars have a new podcast series.

The title of the series is This is important, in which the stars talk about some of the most insignificant issues facing Americans today.

Adam’s tragic childhood disaster

When DeVine was 11-years-old, a horrific crash became one of the main reasons he got into comedy. He was hit by a cement truck while on his way to a utility store with his friends.

DeVine recalled the tragic accident of his youth, “Three cement trucks were going down the hill and two were coming down at the same time. And so after the third one passed going up the hill on my side of the street I walked out with my bike and was hit by the cement truck coming down the other side. Taken under the wheel, slit out. Everything from my waist broke down as well as my right ear and then I crushed everything from the knees down and took off my skin. ”

The young actor was about to be in a mental coma for two weeks with a falling lung, and his whole family was upset about the possibility that doctors would have to cut both legs. Unfortunately he got over it completely without the need for acceleration.

However, the teenager underwent 26 surgeries between 6th grade and the first year of high school. DeVine recalled in a People article that it was the accident that led him to get into comedy.

“After that, I couldn’t do anything, whenever someone would make fun of me, my dad was like, ‘You can’t go into fights until you can punch them back with your words, think of saying some funny things back to them. ‘”

He is scared after his accident

After young DeVine was released from the hospital, he was unable to walk for nearly two years. So his mother had to put him in the bath because he couldn’t stand the shower.

In his recent podcast series This is important, he told a “gnarly” story that happened after his accident. Shortly after returning home, his mother had left for a bath, and like the sixth strange astronomer, he began courting the bath. When he had finished, he looked down to see his baby’s toe floating in the bathtub. He had fallen off!

DeVine was startled, and his mother came in and saw her toe. He quickly told his mother to panic. They were told that the toe would eventually fall off, but it happened at such an invisible moment.
