The best and worst moments in Rob Delaney’s life happened at the same time

Landing a display as Disaster it was a big deal for a young comedian like Delaney. He moved his family to London, even though he did not think the show would last very long. He had three beautiful children, and a loving wife. The show he was sure of failing was off.

It all came together for Delaney. And then life took a terrible turn. His youngest son, Henry, was diagnosed with cancer. Henry was just 1 year old when they got the news, and it would be over a year later, at the age of two.

Delaney, a very private man, opened the public to Henry’s death. He used his Twitter platform to try to educate others about grief, and how to deal with someone who is sad.

He wrote “Tweets like this are not therapeutic for me, they are not updates. I just want other distressed parents and sisters to feel seen / heard / appreciated / loved. ”

Despite his sadness, Rob Delaney continued with ‘Catastrophe’

Delaney did not end Disaster, although his grief may have influenced the script for last season. Delaney and Horgan wrote it just weeks after little Henry’s funeral. Delaney says he felt comfortable enough with Horgan to mourn in front of her, and it was important to him that his two eldest sons see him go to work.

But just because he was in the writer ‘s room does not mean that he was able to keep his mind where he lost. According to Delaney, “By now, I know them a lot where, if I didn’t just sit and cry for a while, I wouldn’t have even got up and left.”

To add to the chaos of Disaster last season, Delaney ‘s wife was pregnant with their fourth son when Henry died. Naturally, Delaney and his wife had controversial feelings, since the new baby came on the heels of such an attractive loss.

As a result, Disaster the last season is grittier, and a realer than the previous three. Delaney is open about drawing on the real life experiences in his comedy. For now, though, it may be turning to more risky careers. Delaney starred in the 2019 film about Roger Ailes, Bombshell.
