Before the Marmat Cinematic Universe, superhero solo movies were the only game in town. Batman and Superman were still big dogs, though Spider-Man, X-Men and Blade were catching up. Christopher Nolan Batman starts in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008 that summer iron Man launched the MCU.
Nolan took a look back at his Batman trilogy. Indiewire they described Nolan’s ideas from a meaningful conversation about Tom Shore’s book Nolan Variations. During the conversation he said that his trilogy had one advantage over the superhero movies that followed Marvel.
Christopher Nolan is pleased that Batman started before Marvel
Starting with the prequel, Nolan said, Batman starts, gave his trilogy one advantage. However, even more important was the fact that Batman movies could make him independent from other superheroes. After Marvel, even Batman had to share movies with Superman and Wonder Woman.
There was some competition from Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and the X-Men before 2005, but Nolan said that Warner Brothers “gave him a lot of creative freedom [to] look at the studio this can be. ”Before 2013, after Man of Steel, Warner Brothers directed their superhero films towards a shared universe and the day of the Marvel movies.
