Cher Once Revealed She Was ‘Frightened’ to Spend a Weekend with Elvis Presley

As one of the most successful and well-known names in the music industry, Cher has established itself as an icon of pop culture in the eyes of fans all over the world. Since she first appeared on the scene with her then-husband Sonny, Cher’s sense of fashion and personality has captured the attention of fans as well as her singing voice.

With much of her success happening during her days as a solo act, Cher had no shortage of lawyers. Originally married to Sonny Bono and later Gregg Allman, fans know that Cher is no stranger to romantic relationships. She once opened up about a man she hoped would have taken her time so far, saying she was too anxious to make the move. That guy is no bigger than Elvis Presley.

Romantic relationships before Cher

After spending most of her younger years in a relationship with Sonny, whom she first met at the age of 16, Cher wasn’t sure what she would make of her new single life after her separation -marriage. Sonny and Cher sold millions of records and received Grammy nominations. They captured the hearts of many as a romantic couple who released many singles, including “I Got You Babe.”

During the time she was not in a relationship, Cher had captured the attention of Elvis Presley, who had been a pop culture icon for himself. Talking to Andy Cohen on Bravo’s Watch what’s happening live, Cher said Presley had invited her to spend a weekend with him once before, but she was too scared to give up on the fun weekend.

“I was embarrassed,” she said to Cohen. “I didn’t get there. I was so worried. I was very scared. ”

It is not certain when this happened, but it is believed to be in the 1970s after Cher separated from Sonny and Elvis separated from Priscilla Presley. Thinking back to this time in her life, Cher seemed to want to date more people, which included going on this date with Presley . She said, “I wish there were,” which was expected to bring back fond memories of her fun weekend.

Other potential partners for Cher

In the interview with Cohen, Cher also said that Marlon Brando spoke to her with a similar offer to go on the date. Although she made a sharp reference to those who escaped in the interviews, Cher said she did not want people to get the wrong impression about her previous relationships. Comparing herself to the Egyptian ruler Cleopatra, who had many partners and men, Cher says “We are not talking Cleopatra numbers… the truth is, everyone was better than me. ”
