Carrie Fisher Didn’t Talk To Her Mother, Debbie Reynolds, for 10 Years For This Harsh Reason

Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, were so close that Reynolds died of a stroke while planning his daughter’s funeral. The pair died just one day apart and lived side by side for 15 years, so it’s hard to believe they didn’t talk to each other for 10 years of their lives.

Actress and writer Carrie Fisher went into a heart attack on December 23, 2016, on a flight from London to California. She died a few days later, on December 27, at the age of 60. According to CNN, the medical investigators concluded that her death was caused by “sleep apnea and other unexplained factors”.

Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, told the media that her mother had “fought drugs and mental illness all her life,” and “she eventually died. ”

One day later, on December 28, Reynolds had a stroke while planning his daughter’s funeral.

“It’s not natural to live as a child,” Reynolds wrote autobiography a few years earlier. “This is the biggest fear I’ve ever had. I don’t know if I would live. ”

The 84-year-old actor was ahead of her own death, years before it happened.

“I want to be with Carrie,” Fisher’s brother Todd remembered her before she died.

Fisher and Reynolds had a ‘volatile relationship’ in the actor’s 20s

Although the pair were close at the end, Fisher and Reynolds did not speak for 10 years. Late Star Wars the actor explained the relationship that had fallen to Oprah Winfrey in an interview in 2011.

“We had a very volatile relationship earlier in my 20s,” Fisher told Winfrey. “I didn’t want to be around her. I didn’t want to be Debbie Reynolds ’daughter. “

After the success of 1977 Star Wars: New Hope and his hides, Fisher struggled to get out of her mother’s attention. She wanted to create her own public figure that was distinct from the famous Reynolds.

“We spoke badly,” continued the star. “We did not succeed. The relationship was more, more than our life. He’s a pretty powerful guy, but to have my own identity, I have to create a character of sorts out of zero. ”

In those 10 years, Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her drug use was out of control. In 1985, the young actor went live for the first time.

The two women became close again when Fisher came out of rehab

After her reunion, Fisher wrote a novel about an actress who reunited with her famous mother after recovering from drug addiction. Although the Star Wars the princess explained that it was not an autobiography, she admitted that some inspiration came from her personal life.

The two actors began to grow close again, and in 2000, Reynolds bought the house next to his daughter in Beverly Hills, California. The pair remained neighbors until their deaths in 2016.
