Fans have been hype about the Cardi B shoe collaboration with Reebok ever since it was announced. But after she released advertising images disguised as the Hindu goddess Durga, some people were immediately disturbed and started calling out Cardi B for “mocking” the their culture. Among the backers, Cardi B took to Instagram to apologize for the blunder, saying she meant no harm.

Ahead of her November 13 release of her collection, Cardi B stood for the cover of Footwear News, where she dressed as Durga. The Daily Mail says Durga that he is a “brave woman with eight hands” who carries a variety of weapons. But instead of a weapon, Cardi B kept one of her shoes.
Footwear News explained the scene on Instagram, writes: “[Cardi B] paying homage to Durga, a Hindu goddess, whose symbols of protection and inner strength stand as much in the present day as they have through the centuries. Like Durga, Cardi B is a leading female voice in times of crisis. But people were still not happy with the idea.
