Caitlyn Jenner Still Faces Backlash From Comments She Made Against Same Sex Marriage on ‘The Ellen Show’

As one of the most prominent faces in the LGBTQ community, you would think Caitlyn Jenner would be an icon for the movement. However, many advocates are reluctant to accept it because of some of the comments she made years ago about same-sex marriage. The damage was permanent despite Jenner backing up and apologizing several times.

So what did she say and how did she say it? It goes back to one horrible program of Ellen’s presentation.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan is perhaps one of the most famous in the world and it’s all thanks to the long truth show about their life on E !. Kim Kardashian West started it after she released a sex tape, from which the family made a huge use in brilliant ways.

But Jenner made headlines long before the show first debuted. She was given male sex at birth and competed as an Olympic athlete in the men’s decathlon beginning in 1974. She married Kris Jenner in 1991 and joined the thriving family after that KUWTK empire.

Jenner then came out as a trans woman in a 2015 interview with Diana Sawyer. Fans were very supportive of her honor – until they heard some of her less popular comments.

Jenner commented on same-sex marriage on ‘The Ellen Show’

During 2015 view of Ellen DeGeneres exhibition, Jenner surprised the audience with some of her views on same – sex unions. “I’m a traditionalist,” the 71-year-old said Weekly entertainment. “I’m older than most people in the audience. I love a similar tradition, and it has always been a man and a woman. I think, ‘I don’t get it at all. ‘”

DeGeneres went on Howard Stern Exhibition to express her disappointment with the interview shortly thereafter.

“I said, ‘You want people to understand and accept you – this is like, very upsetting for people. And you still have opinions about gay people and marriage, ‘”DeGeneres explained. “She says, ‘Well if the word marriage is so important.’ It is. That’s the word. We want the same. ”

It didn’t take long for the I’m Cats alum to clarify previous comments, EW recitation.

A statement on her website explained, “Like many people, there was a time when I did not realize the importance of gay couples having the right to marry. But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships faced by discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to find the person they love. to marry. ”

She later went on 20/20 to reiterate that she “wanted” same-sex marriage and did not want to discriminate against anyone. However, the damage was done after her first impressions, and some individuals are still willing to accept Jenner as a fully-fledged image. It may not help that she is a member of the Republican party, which LGBTQ activists have long seen as part of the opposition.
