Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley were very close, even after their relationship ended. While his relationship with Ann-Margret was clearly a painful place for Priscilla Presley, the two maintained contact with him. Presley maintained the interest of her career, making sure she knew he supported her. In fact, Ann-Margret even said that Presley went back to Priscilla Presley out of duty, and that he would prefer to stay with her. Eventually, it was Presley’s interest in Ann-Margret’s career that led her to her death.
Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley had a strained relationship

When Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret first met, the star did not realize that she and Presley were going to wake up together. In fact, she says the chemistry wasn’t there in the beginning.
“At first, Elvis and I may have admitted that the only warmth between us came from the hot desert sun. But others saw sparks from the beginning, ”she wrote in her autobiography, Ann-Margret: My story.
However, once the two were close, their relationship intensified. Ann-Margret suggested that the two were on the same page, especially in terms of music.
“We experienced music in the same visual way. The music of strong passion rejected a pent-up inside Elvis and inside me. It was a strange, humiliating, funny, inspiring and amazing feeling, ”she wrote.
“When Elvis blew up his pelvis, I went on too. When his shoulder fell off, I was down there with him. When he was whistling, I was already on my heels, ”she said.
Ann-Margret pretends to want to stay with her
Finally, Elvis Presley chose to end the connection with Ann-Margret. The actress has said this was a part of Presley’s role – he was expected to marry Priscilla Presley.
“There were other things in Elvis’ life that took him away from me, and I understood them. Elvis had always been honest with me, but it was still a difficult situation, ”she wrote.
“We continued to see each other from time to time, until we were on a date for almost a year. Then everything stopped. We knew that the relationship had to end, that Elvis had to fulfill its promise. ”
Ann-Margret later said that “it was his wish that we could live together. ”
From their relationship, she wrote, “Little did we know that we were sharing a devil inside. We were quiet, polite, careful. But I knew what was going to happen when we got to know each other. Elvis did too. ”
She knew Elvis Presley died because of this
Elvis Presley kept in touch with Ann-Margret after their relationship ended – the two were still good friends. In fact, Presley would add a floral arrangement to guitar form for Ann-Margret for each of her opening night shows in Las Vegas.
However, when Ann-Margret opened for the Hilton on August 15, 1977, she noticed that there was no floral arrangement on this tour. She decided to contact Graceland and see if something was wrong, and found out about Elvis’ death before the news broke.
In an interview, Charlie Rose asked Ann-Margret, “He planted flowers and you knew he was dead when the flowers didn’t arrive – would he send you flowers when you had a new guitar-shaped connection? ”
“It was untrue. It was just unreal … because I’m very private, and it was too, ”she replied.
