Well-known Nigerian singer Burnaboy has given reasons why he would have won Grammy Awards by 2021.
The Grammy Award-winning musician said in an interview with BBC Africa that he would have won the Grammys in 2013 or 14 if only the Federal Government had put in place the necessary Infrastructure or if the young people at heart.
He described himself as a stone rejected by the builder saying that God is ultimately the last word.
“I am basically the stone that the builder rejected, that is when it comes to where I am today.
“I feel relieved because I deserved it and if I didn’t get it I was hoping a situation wouldn’t happen the way it is, I wouldn’t get what I deserved.
“I realized that the music I was making was growing bigger than me. It was clear he was no longer a hubby so I had to pay attention to him.
“Winning Grammy Awards is just another reminder that a situation or situation is not permanent no matter what it is because it does not guarantee your future or stop you from reach where you should be.
“I also believe that if we had good leaders who care about the youngsters, who then put in place a unique infrastructure, I would not have won the Grammys in 2021. And I might have won in 2013 or 14.
“But at the end of the day, God doesn’t make mistakes,” he said.
Remember that the singer and Wizkid on Sunday won their first Grammy Awards.
Burna Boy won the award for best world music album ‘Twice as Tall’ and Wizkid won best music video for ‘Brown Skin Girl’ by Beyoncé.
